Porsche Sugar Land just installed the fastest electric car charger in the world.
It’s not only Texas’ first high-speed electric car charger designed specifically by Porsche, but it offers the world’s fastest available charge.
No more waiting hours to charge your fully electric Porsche. The state-of-the-art electric “turbo” charger – which can charge a drained electric vehicle to full capacity in less than a half hour – was designed specifically for the Porsche Taycan, Porsche’s first ever all-electric vehicle.
The Taycan battery operates by means of pouch cells, chemically optimized for maximum performance with a long range. The battery is also based on 800-volt technology instead of the usual 400 volts with the effect being improved charging and drive performance with smaller cable cross-sections that reduce overall weight. The Taycan’s charging system is recalibrated to better preserve the battery’s service life and limit overall power loss during fast charging.

Unlike most conventional electric car chargers, which take hours to charge a car to full capacity, the Porsche high-speed charger can offer a full charge in just under 25 minutes.
By comparison even existing “super chargers” designed by other luxury brands take more than twice as long to offer the same level of charge.
The rapid Porsche Turbo Charger charging point was developed by Porsche Engineering. It sets new standards in terms of charging time. Depending on the vehicle model, up to 62 miles of travel can be charged in just five minutes.
It’s appropriate that one of the fastest electric cars in the world just got a “Turbo Charger” to match its electric turbo charged engine. The Taycan Turbo S has one of the fastest zero-to-60 accelerations for an electric vehicle: 2.6 seconds. The Turbo S version of the Taycan boasts up to 750 horsepower with a staggering top speed of 161 mph. The Taycan also provides a range of about 222 miles.

Owners of the fully electric Taycan are welcome to charge that model at Porsche Sugar Land.
“Any Porsche owner visiting the store is welcome to charge their Taycan while they are here,” said Porsche Sugar Land’s General Manager Bram Zeegers, adding that in the near future the charger will be added to the Porsche Connect app.
“As the first Destination Porsche building in the state of Texas, it seemed fitting to have the Porsche 800v charging system as early as we got it. Being the first Porsche dealership in Texas to have the system commissioned is an honor,” Zeegers said. “We hope to see more stores online in the near future. It will only help support all our efforts to showcase Porsche’s dedication to electrification.”
